What happens if the battery on my smartphone is flat?

Try to avoid this happening. That's because you need to be able to show a valid travel pass at all times to the inspector. But if your battery does run flat, the best thing to do is purchase another ticket from the ticket machine.

If you do not have a valid ticket, the inspector will write out an irregularity report and you will have to purchase a ticket at the on-board price - this ticket automatically costs 7 euro more. Useful tip: you have 14 calendar days to request a refund at an NMBS ticket window. If you can demonstrate that you had a valid ticket in the Payconiq by Bancontact app, NMBS will provide a refund.
