As you know, we want to offer easy and secure mobile payments to everyone, regardless of the device they use or the bank they are connected to. This is why two years ago we’ve come up with the Payconiq by Bancontact app, a Belgian payment app that brings together the best of two worlds: Bancontact and Payconiq.
The Payconiq by Bancontact app is as safe and fast as the old Payconiq app and it comes with a bunch of extra functionalities and services. So, it’s time to upgrade your Payconiq payments and switch over to the Payconiq by Bancontact app, because the old Payconiq app will disappear on 1 September 2021.
With this app you can make both Bancontact and Payconiq payments. The app combines both. In addition, you’ll automatically get access to more functionalities and services. For example, you can add your loyalty cards in the app: you can easily and quickly show them in the shop! Discover much more below.
The Payconiq payment feature in your banking app
The mobile banking apps KBC Mobile, CBC Mobile and ING Banking have integrated the Payconiq payment feature. Therefore, you can also use these apps to pay with Payconiq.
Why does the old Payconiq app disappear?
With the Payconiq by Bancontact app you can do much more than only paying. The app contains many more functionalities and services that do not exist in the old Payconiq app. Of course, you will still be able to pay friends via the contact list, send them a payment request or pay via a QR-code in a shop. All you have to do is to transfer your existing account from the Payconiq app to the Payconiq by Bancontact app.
What’s in it for you?
First of all, you can pay in a whole lot more places than before. With Payconiq by Bancontact, you can pay wherever you see the Bancontact or the Payconiq logo, both online and in physical stores.

Download the Payconiq by Bancontact app in the App Store or on Google Play.
Create your user profile
Link your Bancontact card
Make sure you have your digipass or card reader for this.
Go to ‘Contacts’ and follow the instructions to transfer your Payconiq account using your old Payconiq app.
Delete your old Payconiq app and you are done!
Remember to delete the old Payconiq app only after you’ve linked your account to the Payconiq by Bancontact app.

Click ‘Contacts’ on the home screen
Link your Payconiq account using your old Payconiq app. Click on ‘Transfer’ and follow the instructions.
Once you’ve linked your Payconiq account to the app, you’re ready to pay mobile with the Payconiq by Bancontact app.
Delete your old Payconiq app and you are done!
